One hundred years ago it was true that many families remained within an area of the same few miles over the course of their entire lives. With the advent of air travel and the internet the world has become a smaller and smaller place. It has also become increasingly understood that, in reality, the events that occur in one part of the world are not truly separate from events in every part of the world; we all affect each other and our environment on this one small planet in myriad ways we cannot always be aware of.
In these days active families enjoy sharing experiences that bring them in closer contact with the world around them and with each other. It is both educational and entertaining for children and adults to be exposed to the world in new ways; to see and immerse themselves in life styles that are different from their own, and to observe nature and various habitats all over the world. Increasing both adults’ and children’s understanding and enjoyment of other cultures and ways of viewing the world can be one step in creating a better future for our planet.
