Lodges in Manu & Tambopata :
Places to Stay in Manu & Tambopata

Lodges in Manu

Manu Wildlife Center

Located in a private, 40,000-acre rain forest reserve adjacent to the 1 million acre protected area named the “Amarakaeri Reserved Zone,” The Center is the only lodge in the Manu lowlands with roomy, private bungalows. The Lodge is incredibly remote and wild. It is number one in the world for the viewing of canopy wildlife because, unlike most competing lodges, our forest remains unhunted and full of wildlife. Our scientists and canopy logistics experts have more experience building platforms and canopy towers for international TV crews than all other teams in South America combined.

Cock of the Rock Manu Cloud Forest

A fairly new lodge at 1,500m on the Manu Road just down from the famous the Cock-of-the Rock lek (dancing ground). Situated on the boundary between the humid subtropical cloud forest above and the guadua bamboo/upper tropical forest zone below, it is home to a large variety of birds. A major attraction of the lodge is our "lek," of the Andean Cock-of-the Rock, a nearly crow-sized, bright red bird of the Cotinga family.

Lodges in Tambopata

Posada Amazonas

A Peruvian ecotourism company founded in 1992, its purpose is to provide an authentic educational experience that supports the conservation of the area where we operate. It was built using a combination of traditional native materials (wood, palm fronds, wild cane and clay) and architecture and modern day eco-lodge technology. This comfortable yet unobtrusive lodge is owned jointly by Rainforest Expeditions and the Community of Infierno. It is easily accesible has excellent wildlife observation opportunities, and comfortable accommodations. It is also adjacent to the 750,000 hectare Tambopata-National Reserve in southeastern Amazonian Peru.

Reserva Amazonica Tambopata

Built in the middle of pristine rain forest it is a private ecological reserve and research center on 10,000 hectares (24 710 acres) with more than 27 years promoting sustainable use of the Amazon Rainforest. The lodge has private cabins, with lovely views of the Madre de Dios River and the surrounding rainforest. Local materials were used to build them in the traditional architectural style of the native Machiguenga and Ese-Eja peoples. The cabins are on raised platforms, and have pitched roofs and large windows for optimal ventilation.

Tambopara Research Center

It was built by Rainforest Expeditions with the object of lodging tourists and researchers alike and protecting the adjacent macaw clay lick. Because of its remote location within a uninhabited wilderness housing stable populations of endangered wildlife, the small scale of its infrastructure and operations and the presence of researchers and naturalist guides, Tambopata Research Center is an excellent headquarters for in-depth explorations of Amazonian nature and wildlife. Composed of four interconnected, thatch-roofed buildings, designed after traditional low-impact native architecture, and providing the creature comforts necessary for enhancing the wilderness experience without compromising authenticity.

Wasai Tambopata Lodge

It is located approximately 50 Km. away from Puerto Maldonado by an unpaved road, and approximately 120 Km. by the river route, in the heart of the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve. A beautiful, tranquil place in the midst of the rainforest, on the banks of the Tambopata River you can relax, go fishing or swimming under the waterfall or go in search of the flora and fauna that Tambopata is famous for, such as monkeys, jaguars, tapir, parrots and crocodiles. The lodge has over 20km of trails.
