Amazon Iquitos Cruise 01:
Iquitos - Leticia - Tabatinga

Itinerary:

Days 1-3:  Sunday -Welcome to the ship (L, D)
Amazon Cruise
In the morning you will be transferred to the docks and board the yacht, and receive your assigned cabin. Sail down the Amazon River and see varied and beautiful landscapes. Day 2, after an early breakfast, set out in one of the excursion boats for a bird watching trip on the Ampiyacu River. Visit a Bora/ Huitoto Indian village and see how these people live. Return to the ship for a brief sail down to the small town of Pevas, the oldest European settlement on the Peruvian Amazon. Afterwards, take an excursion in a small boat to look for caiman.
Next morning, take a walk in the jungle to visit the small village of Paranaquiro and see how the local people live in harmony with the rain forest. Night excursion to look for caiman.

Days 4-7: Early morning, arrive at Santa Rosa Island where the borders of Peru / Colombia / Brazil meet. Take an early morning bird watching trip followed by a jungle walk near  the village of Chimbote. Late morning, visit the small missionary town of San Pablo.
Optional: visit to the Leper hospital run by French-Canadian nuns and see the handicrafts made by the inhabitants. After dinner take a night excursion to look for caiman and night animals.

Day 6: in the morning, visit a village of Yagua Indians to observe their native dress, traditional dances and handicrafts. Return to ship for lunch and a siesta. Late afternoon shore excursion on the black-water Apayacu River to see the flora and fauna of the area. Early in the morning arrive back in Iquitos. Transfer to the airport or your hotel. Day 7, explore Iquitos, a unique and interesting city. You can also visit the Pilpintuwasi Butterfly Farm and the Amazon Animal Orphanage.

Bird watching trip on the Ampiyacu River, where you can spot species such as the hoatzin, the caracara, the black-collared hawk, and horned screamers.

Visit a village of Yagua Indians, and learn about the use of curare-tipped arrows in the hunt

See pink and grey freshwater dolphins, friendly, intelligent mammals that frolic in the waters near your boat

Excursion in search of diverse species like bats and reptiles such as capybara, black caiman and poisonous frogs.

Fish for piranhas in the Amazon River and enjoy them for lunch!
