Itinerary (5D/4N):
Upon your arrival in the Ayacucho airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon tour the city, starting with the Hipólito Unánue Regional Museum. Afterwards, head to the historical center of “San Juan de la Frontera de Huamanga,” which was Ayacucho’s original name. Next we go to the Santa Ana neighborhood, which is known as the artist’s district, with the works of some of Peru´s most famous artists.
Next morning, after breakfast, visit the Wari archaeological complex, which was the capital of the first Andean empire. On the way pass by the valleys of Muyurina and Pacaycasa and see the Historical Sanctuary of the Pampa de Ayacucho, its Obelisk, which is the symbol of Latin-American Freedom and Unity, and other attractions. Afterwards go to the Huanta, better known as the "Esmeralda de los Andes" ("Emerald of the Andes"), and the Center of Apicola Production (Honeybees). Final stop at the famous Pikimachay cave.
Very early the following morning, leave for the southern part of Ayacucho; to the Morochucos plateau where you will see three gorgeous waterfalls. After a brief walk, arrive at the Wawapuquio, a healing pool of gasified water. Then head towards the village of Cangallo, which is situated between the Pampas and Macromayo rivers.
After breakfast in Cangallo, tour the Pampas River on your way to the Inka city of Vilcashuaman. Afterwards, visit the Pomaqocha lagoon where you will see the Portada Del Sol (the Gate of the Sun), Baños Del Inka (Inka Baths) and Akllawasi. Finally go to Vilcashumán, and visit the temples of the Moon and of the Sun. There is also a Pyramid there. Return to Ayacucho.
On this final day, at the appropriate hour, you will be taken to the airport for your domestic flight to Lima.
